Recruit new employees with help from Kentucky Career Center-Lincoln Trail

November 16, 2021

Almost everywhere you go today, you will see a “now hiring” sign in the window. While the current job market is rich with opportunities for job seekers, employers are struggling to find people with the skills and passion for helping their companies succeed. Local employers are competing for the same top candidates, with many positions staying open for far too long. If your business is facing this challenge, the Kentucky Career Center-Lincoln Trail (KCC-LT) can help.

Dr. Noah Villanueva

My name is Noah Villanueva, and I am the new Business Solutions Team lead for KCC-LT. We offer services to employers of all sizes and industries in the Lincoln Trail region.

One of the most in-demand services right now is the recruitment of job candidates that have essential skills for workplace success - critical thinking, problem-solving, digital skills, team skills and others - in addition to technical skills. The new workplace needs workers at various job levels that are adaptable to a fast-paced environment. We help employers recruit job seekers willing to learn new skills and techniques to better the company and themselves for the future.

KCC-LT provides employee recruitment and screening services such as job fairs, marketing and an employer job posting portal at no cost. We also offer employee development and retention services like on-the-job training (OJT), incumbent worker training and apprenticeships at reduced or no cost. And finally, our team provides business Information and consultation services such as information on the labor market and tax credits to help employers meet current and future workforce needs.

The current economy has allowed  KCC-LT the opportunity to be more innovative and flexible in finding new ways to meet employers’ needs. We have developed new approaches such as outdoor and drive-through job fairs. We are also working closely with other community partners in virtual recruitment events with more emphasis on social media promotion.

We are currently working with Kruger Packaging LLC, a family-owned Canadian corporation building a new $114 million plant in Elizabethtown which will create 150 new jobs by summer 2022. The company transforms renewable resources into sustainable, high-quality essentials for everyday life.

KCC-LT is coordinating a job fair for Kruger to meet and interview candidates on Nov. 17, at the Colvin Community Center in Radcliff. We will promote this as well as their open positions on our website and through our social media channels. We are also providing temporary space at the career center if needed for Kruger to conduct interviews with potential employees.

“KCC-LT is a wonderful partner to both Kruger and the community,” said Kruger’s HR Advisor Chloe Anderson. “KCC-LT is helping job seekers find solid employment opportunities while helping Kruger to build a strong workforce and presence within our community.”

I am excited to join KCC-LT at this pivotal time in our region. Our team is determined to deliver consistent, high-quality services to employers and will do all that we can to ensure they have the skilled workforce they need to succeed.
