Let us make hiring more efficient

More and more businesses are finding that a hiring event is an effective and efficient way to find the talent they need, especially when the business needs to bring multiple new employees on board.

At the Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail, our business services team members are ready to make hiring events even more effective and efficient.

For example, we were proud to customize our no-cost services for automotive supplier Metalsa as the company began expanding the workforce at its Elizabethtown plant.

The Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail started accepting Metalsa applications for entry-level production technicians late in March.

Starting in April, applicants visited the career center in Elizabethtown to participate in a company orientation and screening. Our staff talked to applicants about Metalsa and what its hiring officials were looking for in employees. As we screened candidates, we ensured they understood the job description and had the necessary skills. They also completed soft skills training and interview preparations at Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail.

This process helps candidates self-evaluate and determine if a job is right for them before the interview process starts, which can save job seekers and employers time and effort. Plus, it provides an employer a higher-quality pool of candidates.

The Metalsa orientation, screening and prep work took place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Then, every other Thursday, a team from Metalsa’s human resources department conducted interviews at our Elizabethtown location, meaning they avoided workplace interruptions that come with hiring. Each sessions included anywhere from 38 to 68 interviews.

We can arrange the interviews, provide the office space and facilitate the schedule, all so our visiting employers can focus on what matters most – interacting with job seekers.

And when Metalsa representatives met a candidate they approved for the company’s pre-hire welding training, we worked with Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to schedule that, too.

Company representatives reported the interview sessions were smooth and productive, and they were impressed by quality and preparedness of the applicants.

So far, Metalsa has hired 36 new employees through the arrangement, which wrapped up in July.

As we like to think of ourselves as an extension of a company’s human resources department, we couldn’t be more excited about the feedback and results.

Developing hiring events is just one of the many ways area employers, large and small, can take advantage of our no-cost services. To find out how Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail can assist your company, click here or give us a call at (270) 234-5832.
