ELECTRICIAN

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Uses electrical prints to complete point-to-point wiring on complex control cases and complete machines; must be able to read and work from electrical prints and schematics. Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques and the ability to use a voltmeter is also required. Knowledge of high voltage currents (up to 4160 volts) and electrical safety is also required. Assembles electrical components and installs on complete.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Voltmeters, hand tools, cranes, lift trucks, measuring instruments, torches, and hand grinders.

SAMPLE WORK PROCEDURE

  • Read prints and schematics to complete point-to-point wiring
  • Electrical troubleshooting techniques to detect problem areas
  • Test voltage in installations
  • Assemble electrical components in equipment
  • Install electrical components in equipment
  • Perform other assignments at the direction of departmental supervision
  • Obey all safety rules and perform housekeeping functions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Three or more years of experience in electrical repair of mining equipment
  • Have basic tools or be willing to purchase
  • Able to work any shift
  • Able to work overtime
  • Able to work weekends

MACHINIST I

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Set up and operate manual lathes, drill presses and small universal mills to make a variety of components and assemblies. Must be able to read and work from prints, perform set-ups and read micrometers, calipers and dial indicators.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Manual lathes, drill presses, small universal mills, measuring instruments, including but not limited to, indicators, calipers and micrometers, cranes, lift trucks, hand tools, grinders, lathes, drill presses, and mills..

SAMPLE WORK PROCEDURE

  • Operate manual lathes,, drill presses and mills to make a variety of components

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of machine shop experience. This does not include vocational school experience. Experience in turning, boring, facing and thread cutting. Must pass the technical skilled test.
  • Able to work any shift

  • Able to work weekends

MOTOR ASSOCIATE

JOB OVERVIEW

Disassemble AC and DC motors and clean including tapping all holes. Remove all bearing and sleeve. Run VPI furnace.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Sandblast, pressure washer, bearing puller, press, ovens, VPI & dip tanks, hand tools, grinder, lift trucks and cranes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disassemble motors AC & DC
  • Sand blast parts for assembly
  • Flush water jackets
  • Press shafts in armature
  • Prep motor assembly with parts for assembly
  • Paint motors
  • Perform other assignments at the direction of departmental supervision
    Obey all safety rules and perform housekeeping functions

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in coal mining machinery or similar type of manufacturing operation
  • Able to work any shift
  • Able to work overtime
  • Able to work weekends

MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY/WELDER

PRIMARY FUNCTION

  • Assemble and disassemble large mechanical components from prints
  • Mount sub-assemblies, install hydraulic hoses from prints
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Inspect gears and bearings, set backlash on gears, set preload on bearings
  • Assemble shuttle cars, battery haulers, feeder breakers, continuous miners, mechanical sub assemblies
  • Perform all necessary welding on above mentioned equipment

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of mechanical/hydraulic and weld experience in heavy equipment or automotive transmissions
  • AWS D1.1 Weld Certification
  • AWS – FCAW (Flux Cord) – V-3G & O-4G
  • Mechanical Test Success
  • Able to work any shift
  • Able to work overtime
  • Able to work weekends
