Businesses play an integral role in local economies. Not only do they provide jobs, they also fuel the overall infrastructure of a community.
Businesses pay taxes that help build roads, pay for education and improve quality of life, which is important to attracting more companies and talented professionals.
Our team at Kentucky Career Center-Lincoln Trail understands the important role businesses play in our community. We also understand sometimes our residents seek employment outside of the community while our region’s employers struggle to find skilled workers.
The Kentucky Career Center-Lincoln Trail serves job seekers, but that only is one side of the equation. We also serve as a one-stop solution for employers by providing professional services that foster a competitive workforce and strengthen our region.
Our four centers in Elizabethtown, Bardstown, Lebanon and Leitchfield, offer employers services and resources at no-cost to help their businesses succeed, including:
• Work-Based Learning Opportunities
Too many students and young adults begin their careers outside of the region before they have an opportunity to connect with local businesses.
Our workforce crisis task force helps connect employers with educators to match young people with work-based learning opportunities. There are several different types including mentoring, job shadowing, internships and pre-apprenticeships. Go to ltcareercenter.org/WBLO to access the easy how-to-guide and school contact list to set up a work-based learning opportunity at your workplace.
• On-the-Job Training Program
Investing in our workforce means investing in our region. That’s why our on-the-job training program exists. It helps fill the gaps in your new employees’ current skill levels and the skills required to excel in their positions. Equipping your employees with on-the-job training provides a host of benefits. Investments in professional development often increase productivity and job satisfaction, positioning your company to grow more efficiently.
The program reimburses 50 percent of a WIOA-eligible employee’s wages, up to $5,000, while they train for a skilled, in-demand job. Reimbursement for a higher percentage of wages may be available to small businesses. Restrictions apply in some cases, so please contact us to find out if your employees are eligible for the program.
• Incumbent Worker Training Program
If your business requires customized training for current employees, our incumbent worker training program can help minimize training costs through our WIOA-funded programs or we can facilitate funding through our partner agencies. This allows you to strengthen your workforce while protecting your bottom line.
• Veteran Talent Services
Technical skills, leadership, team building and performance under pressure — veteran talent brings all this and more to the civilian workplace. With Fort Knox in our footprint, our region is fortunate to have hundreds of veterans ready for post-military opportunities and we’re here to help employers connect with these skilled job seekers.
• Talent Search and Hiring Services
Recruiting can be difficult. We offer a variety of services to help our business clients find and hire the right talent. We can assist with job postings, candidate screening, computerized assessments and the coordination of job fairs and hiring events. Additionally, Kentucky’s new job posting portal, Focus Talent, allows employers to post jobs and search resumes free of charge.
• Labor Market Data
If you are curious about the best area to open or relocate a business, we have up-to-date labor market data to help employers make informed decisions. Visit your local career center to view detailed and relevant data.
