In-Demand Career: Production Worker

June 2, 2023

As manufacturing ramps up in the Lincoln Trail area, the role of production worker will be even more in-demand in the region in coming years.

The duties of a production worker can vary greatly depending on the industry they work in, but typically involve operating machinery, assembling equipment parts, and monitoring production processes. They must be skilled in following instructions, attention to detail, and have a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

In addition to technical skills, production workers must also possess excellent teamwork and communication skills. As a part of a larger team, they work together to ensure that products are manufactured on time and with high quality.

According to Intuit, the average salary of a production worker in Kentucky is $35,500 per year, or approximately $17.07 per hour.

Production workers also have great opportunities for upward mobility. Local production workers can advance their career by enrolling in training programs at the nearby Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC). The college offers advanced manufacturing courses that can prepare you in as little as four months. Plus, through the Work Ready Scholarship, you can obtain a certificate, diploma, or associate degree without incurring any expenses.
