Employment and training assistance and support services help laid off workers who are unemployed or underemployed find their next career. Support is funded through the National Dislocated Workers Grant (NDWG) and a service of the U.S. Department of Labor. DWGs enable states and communities to respond to and recover from large, often unexpected dislocation events and their associated impacts.
Employment and Training Assistance:
Employment and training assistance is unique to each dislocated worker. For some, it is a few hours refreshing an old resume. For others, it is taking classes at the local community and technical college in a high-demand industry. Dislocated workers can take advantage of a wide array of assistance.
Examples: Job fairs and hiring events, Registered Apprenticeships, on-the-job training, continued education, and more.
Support Services:
Support services help eliminate the challenges or restraints that prevent meaningful employment. Each dislocated worker have distinct challenges they are facing. Support services can be single purchase or regular support.
Examples: Childcare costs during interviews, equipment investments for new job, and more.
